Class
Descriptions
Yoga 1 & 2:
This Hatha/Vinyasa style yoga class is appropriate for those who
are newer to Yoga as well as those who wish to move towards a
more dynamic Yoga practice. We will explore a wide range of
asanas (postures) with an emphasis on breathing, body alignment
and meditation to develop strength, flexibility and ease in the
body in order to quiet the mind.
MMA (Mixed Marshal Arts):
Black
Hole Jujitsu is the number one training class in the Northeast
for Mixed Martial Arts. Incorporating Mauy Tai Kickboxing,
Freestyle American Wrestling, Brazilian Jujitsu and Steve "The
Storm" Sawyer's personal ground and pound system that has
recently made heads turn out west, Black Hole Jujitsu is
"Mapping the universe of martial arts one move at a time."
Allowing you not only to learn the highest percentage moves that
win fights, but also personalizing those moves into your own
game.
Yin Yoga:
Yin Yoga contains the ancient, and some say original, form of
asana practice. The sages who pioneered the path of yoga used
asanas to strengthen the body, so that they could sit for long
periods in contemplative meditation. If you have ever sat for a
long time with legs crossed, you know the hips and lower back
need to be strong and open. The sensations you felt were deep in
the connective tissues and the joints. These are the deep yin
tissues of the body, relative to the more superficial yang
tissues of muscles and skin. Yin Yoga opens up these deep,
dense, rarely touched areas.
CrossTraining:
Join in on this fun circuit training class and get stronger! All
classes will be different, but they will all use traditional
strength and conditioning exercises to give you the best
possible workout. Based on a CrossTraining model, these classes
will push you to a new level of fitness. Each session can be
modified to fit whatever your personal fitness level, so they
are open to everyone. Be prepared to run (jog), jump rope, use
the kettlebells, challenge your cardio and much more. Join us
for the fun.
Kettlebell Class:
Come join Susan and the gang and learn one of the coolest new
workout trends. Kettlebells are steel balls with a handle and
they pack a powerful punch on your cardio and strength training.
The Tuesday class will focus on increasing your cardiac
capacity, with lower weight, high volume training. Thursdays
class will combine kettlebell strength moves with high volume
cardio training for an intense cross training effect. Saturdays
class is mainly focused on strength, but will sneak some high
volume work in just to keep you on your toes. No matter what you
are training for, Kettlbells will get you in the best shape of
your life. Come join us!
Tai Chi:
The ancient art of tai chi uses gentle flowing movements to
reduce the stress of today's busy lifestyles and improve health.
Join Steve for an early morning workout that will mix Tai Chi
and gentle strength training to help you improve your life and
health. Taught during a quiet time at the gym, this class will
focus on instilling peace and harmony while teaching your body
to relax and open up. Work on your balance, joint mobility, and
strength.
